Accessibility statement for Rowton Parish Council
This accessibility statement covers the entirety of the rowtonparishcouncil.org.uk website.
This website is run by Rowton Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 250% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible the website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- Public Rights of Way - There's a keyboard trap in the embedded map
- there's a hidden navigation button when stylesheet removed
- many documents are in PDF format and are not fully accessible

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Rowton Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Disproportionate burden
Public Rights of Way - There's a keyboard trap in the embedded map
There is no simple way of leaving the embedded map by using the tab key. We believe that the cost of investigating and fixing this issue would be a disproportionate burden.
There's a hidden navigation button when stylesheet removed
The hidden button is necessary for responsiveness. We believe that the cost of removing this button and/or fixing this issue would be a disproportionate burden, especially since it causes no major cause for concern.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs
Some of our PDFs are essential to providing our services and it's not reasonably possible for us to present them as HTML documents. It would be a disproportionate burden for us to make these comply to Web Accessibility standards as these are simple documents which are created using Microsoft Word.
